Flax Seed Burfi (Healthy Nut Bar) Recipe by Manjula, Gluten Free


Today I will be making flax seed burfi
or you can call this health bar.
Flax seed is high in protein
and a good source for omega 3.
This barfi is healthy and taste great.
This recipe will make about 24 pieces.
And for this recipe we will need:
1/2 cup golden flax seed powder or flax seed meal
1/2 cup coarsely ground walnut
1/2 cup coarsely ground almonds
1/2 cup coarsely ground cashews
1 teaspoon crushed green cardamom
For syrup
1 cup sugar
And 1/4 cup of water.
This is a easy, quick and healthy recipe.
First I will dry roast all the nuts
and then mix it with sugar syrup.
Pour it over greased plate.
Wait till it cools down to room temperature.
And then it’s ready to enjoy.
Heat is on, medium.
First I will dry roast the flax seed powder.
Here is the flax seed powder.
And then just keep stirring and you have to dry roast
this for about a minute.
Don’t over roast, otherwise it will get brown in color
and will have the little burn taste.
This should be just warm.
This has been about a minute.
So I am going to add the other nuts.
Almonds
Cashews
And walnuts.
And keep stirring and dry roast
for another 1.5-2 minutes.
Don’t over do it otherwise nuts will become oily.
It has been about 2 minutes.
So I will turn off the heat.
And add the cardamom.
Again mix it and take it out in a bowl.
I will use the same pan and make the syrup
over medium high heat.
Water
Sugar
Mix it well.
And cook till it comes to boil.
Syrup is boiling.
So just boil for another minute
you will see this foam is almost gone.
Syrup is ready.
As you see foams are gone and it’s very clear.
So turn off the heat.
And add the nut mixture.
Mix it well, quick.
I already have a plate which I have put the oil.
It’s ready to go.
And pour this over that greased plate.
And just go over.
I like to keep it square.
You will have to wait for about 5 minutes
before you will just cut it.
And then wait again before you pick up.
Till this has come to room temperature.
While burfi is still warm.
So let’s cut them in the pieces but don’t
pick them up, they will break.
It’s cutting really good.
And now wait till it comes to the room temperature.
Flax seed burfi is ready.
Cardamom gives a very nice flavor.
After you taste one, you will be surprised
how good it taste.
This is also a vegan and gluten free delight.
